A Visitor From South Africa Writes...Hello! I recently went to a hair salon, about 3 days ago, with the hope of having the various dyes removed from my hair. I am natuarlly dark blonde, and initially dyed my hair dark brown with Garnier, then dyed it a month later, again with Garnier, this time a light blonde, which in turn gave my hair a more orange shade (as i didn't think to use a
pre-lightener).
So i decided to seek professional help, but then the hairdresser went & ruined my hair with bleach - it burnt my head, made some hair fall & it feels as course as a zims. And further more, my hair is breaking & i look very unfortunate.
He (trying to conceal his panic) told my to come back a week later, where he would dye my hair dark blonde. Quite frankly i'm terrified to go back, definatley do not want to have to use dye ever again. Do you know what i could possibly do to help my hair? I do not want to break my hair, and just want it to be a normal colour (i look way too fuzzy ugly barbie right now & would do anything for my natural colour) - even considering cutting my long ocks...sniff!
Please help, your advice would be warmly welcomed.

I'm sorry to hear about your hair fiasco. I know how that can affect a person's self-esteem.
From your description, I'd say you should use a SEMI-permanent dark blonde hair color and trim an inch or two off the ends. If you do this yourself, be sure not to use an ash tone (maybe not even neutral) as very porous hair picks up the blue pigments in hair color. You'd be better off with a warm blonde. Learn more about the chemistry of hair color here.
Use protein and moisture treatements to restore the look and feel of your hair.
When hair has been damaged, it tends to have a fuzzy texture. To eliminate that, use a leave-in styling/conditioning product like Sebastian's Potion 9... and style your hair gently with a boar-bristle hot air brush. This will put enough tension on your hair to smooth the frizzy look, but the heat isn't so intense that it'll cause further damage.

It really is possible to make even the most damaged hair look a lot better.
