If you're not, you've likely seen an Emo hair style. Long, sweeping black bangs, covering an eye -- shorter in the back and spiked up a bit in some variations.

Emo is more than just a "look" though. It's a music genre -- a subculture, derived from hardcore punk music. It's an outward expression, a way of being, and of seeing the world.

There just happens to be a very specific look (worn in varying degrees) that is associated with this group (along with a lot of controversy over the inclinations of young Emos, but we won't go into that).
