Before using colorfixAfter using colorfix

Directions:

For full color correction:

  1. Apply to dry hair.
  2. Mix equal parts of  Colorfix Part 1 Color Reducer and Part 2 Conditioning Catalyst in tint bowl or an applicator bottle. (Mix as much as will be needed for the density and length of hair that requires correction.) Wearing gloves and using a tint brush, apply quickly and evenly to the hair. If mixed in an applicator bottle, shake vigorously until thoroughly mixed (45 seconds to 1 minute). Gently work through the hair to ensure even penetration. After mixing Part 1 Color Reducer and Part 2 Conditioning Catalyst, use as quickly as possible, since the activity of the mixture decrease with time.
  3. Cover loosely with a plastic cap, and process up to 20 minutes. Strand test frequently. Low, warm dryer heat may be used to speed processing time.
  4. Rinse hair for 3-5 minutes and shampoo. If sufficient color is not removed, repeat Step 2 and 3 (this may be done on damp, towel-dried hair). Depending on condition of scalp and hair, do not repeat process more than 2-3 times.
  5. When desired level of color removal has been achieved, apply Processing Lotion for 5 minutes. (Due to the nature of dye molecules, it is possible that hair may redarken to an unacceptable level. If it does, repeat Steps 2-4 on damp hair, until sufficient color is removed.)
  6. Rinse well. Dry hair with a warm heat setting. (A hot setting may cause scalp irritation.) You may now proceed with your color application, if performing a full color corrective service.

For slight color correction (lighten color that has gone too dark or ashen):

  1. Mix 1/4 oz Part 1 Color Reducer + 1/4 oz Part 2 Conditioning Catalyst + 1 oz Shampoo.
  2. Wearing gloves, apply to damp, towel-dried hair. Apply only to the areas of the hair that require lightening, and work into lather. To determine timing, take a strand test frequently.
  3. When the desired shade has been reached, rinse thoroughly and shampoo.

Tips for successful color correction:

  • Always strand test color formulas to be used prior to application. Remember, porous hair will absorb colors more quickly and the resulting hair color may be slightly darker. You may need to formulate 1-2 levels lighter than desired result.
  • Always use a low pH conditioner after an application of Colorfix. This will help protect the hair, and return it to a more normal state.
  • Colorfix is developed to remove oxidative dyes. Since most semipermanent colors are combination of direct dyes and oxidative dyes, Colorfix may only partially remove these.

Ingredients:

Part 1 Color Reducer

  • Do not apply if skin is broken, or otherwise abraded or irritated.
  • Do not use over henna, or gradual color restorers containing metallic salts. To do so may cause discoloration or breakage.
  • As with any chemical service, strand test frequently to ensure desired results.

Great product!
Reviewer: Lisa Thibodaux from Thibodaux, La 70301   2008-09-28

I have been dying my hair for about 20+ years blond. I am naturally light brown. I have gone to salons, but they could never get the color I wanted. So I decide to do it myself, but after 8 months to a year the color starts to build up and gets real brassy. I use this product to completely strip the color out and start fresh. After the product I put in a color a little lighter than I normally do. It comes out great. My hair actually feels healthier after. I highly recommend this product. I also like the idea that you don't have the use the whole product. After applying one n' only my hair does come out with a orange tint. I just reverse by using a color mixture with gold base and a few drops of the color nearest to mind in the voliet base. It evens it out. Best product ever!

works soo good!

I dyed my hair black about 5 days ago and thought I'd get used to it but it makes me look like the Lily Munster. I tried to dye it a lighter color in hopes that it would cover the black.. but nooothing covers black. So I read all the reviews for this product and Color Oops and found that Color Oops didnt work well for people with black hair. After reading the reviews on skipping the third lotion step, I was going to do that, but the box made it seem like my color was going to come back if I didn't use it so I did. Before it was an orange color which kind of freaked me out so I used the lotion and it made most of the black come back with some dark brown color (the color i had in previously) mixed in. But I didn't get the lotion very well in the back and it took my hair back to it's natural brassy brown color so I'd definately skip the lotion step. I still have some mix left over so I'll apply again in a few days. But for everyone who says this will dry out your hair and damage it.. I've colored my hair twice, used Colorfix.. and dyed it again and it's as heathly as the days when I didn't dye my hair. And I'm going to use colorfix and dye it again if it's uneven again, so I'll let you know if it falls out. Colorfix is amaaaaazing and I'd recommend it to anyone wanting to take out any color in their hair

Saved my hair - and my wedding!

After years of overprocessing and hair dying, I decided to try to dye my hair back to it's normal colour (medium brown) one last time. Big mistake! L'Oreal's "Double Espresso" came out blue-black. I phoned several hair salons and they told me that the only way to fix my hair was to bleach it and then start over. I have baby fine hair and there is NO WAY that I could have bleached it, especially with my wedding coming up next summer. I was pretty hesitant to try this product because I figured, if it's so great, then why don't hair salons use it? I decided to give it a try anyway and am I ever glad I did! I am so grateful for this product; my hair is back to it's natural colour (a brownish-auburn) and it is healthier than it's ever been in years! I don't need to worry now about having light roots and black hair in my wedding photos. I used the entire product, following the exact instructions. When I rinsed it out, my hair was a bright orange colour but the toner brought it back to my natural colour. I think the toner (step #3 is really important to achieve your natural shade). This is a wonderful product and I would highly recommend it to anyone who has dyed their hair too dark. The smell isn't as bad as I thought it would be either.

Worked exactly how I thought

I needed a color remover to remove my medium brown shade of hair dye as I was trying to go blonde. Colorfix worked exactly how I was hoping it would- removed all the brown, and left me with a good base color of a very light orange to start with. I was able to move on to bleach and bleach my hair with less steps to get to the light yellow I needed. I wish I had known about this a year ago when I first tried to go from a dark brown to blonde. The product is very stinky, but the smell will go away once you wash your hair a couple times. I didn't end up with my natural color, but it removed the color I didn't want, all without noticable damage.
