alleged "silver fox" ready for a change - what color??

All my friends love my hair, and people stop me on the street to tell me how much they like it. But I have a really cool job in Austin with people 20 years younger than me, and I'd like to get back into dating. TIme for a change, but I'm nervous about using color! For sure I will go to a stylist. I have almost no wrinkles, with pale skin and blue eyes. My hair is white, silver and brown with a lot of shine to the silver. I was platinum blond as a child, mousy ash brown all my life till this silver came in.

I think an ash blonde might be flattering, but then i'd have pale hair and pale skin. My natural color would be pretty blah. Suggestions? Thoughts on cut and makeup welcome too (I wasn't wearing makeup in this photo -- I have almost no eyebrows).

SILVER ROOTS

I have words of caution only...if you have never colored your hair, and from the sound of it you haven't, be prepared for the upkeep needed. Gray/silver roots show like dark roots do on blonde hair no matter what color you choose to go with. You will be spending a lot of time at the salon! But if you do decide to color, don't go too dark. Nature lightens skin tone as we gray and too dark ends up looking phony. Good luck!

Another silver fox

Like you, everyone talks about how they love my silver hair (since 30's), but I notice the minute one of them finds a gray hair, they go into total meltdown.
I've given up for awhile since a bout with cancer last year, but my stylist in Dallas (sorry, she's retired now--she was a color genius) suggested lowlights,or that's how I remember it. In other words, in stead of highlights most people put in, she put in some darker color(s) as lowlights..not a solid color. I don't remember a horrible situation with roots, but I do wear my hair short usually, so that problem might have been alleviated by cutting? (I'm not sure)
I was amazed with the difference and how much younger I looked. Even those "silver lovers" admitted they might do something like that if they were all gray/silver. I even felt younger!
My terms might incorrect, but if you find a great colormeister like I did, I bet they'd know what I'm talking about, and you could ask about that for yourself.

I appreciate the great comments! I am resigned to frequent salon visits... and I will look into lowlights, for sure. I have a color consultation next week. I'm going to keep looking till I find the right person. LOL, Dallas lady, on the comment about everyone loving your silver but freaking out over one gray hair..so true. I have the rest of my life to be a silver fox --I want to enjoy looking younger while I still can!

for the easiest change

I have had some experience with lowlights and found them very effective..Its adding some color through your hair giving it life and your skin a healthy looking color also. Not so washed out looking.Lowlights look natural and choosing the right shade is something you colorist can help you with.I however have found using a slightly darker color to allow some fadeing as gray-silver hair is resistant and tends not to take color as effectivly as other shades..Go for it and enjoy!!! If you dont get too carried away with heavy lowlights you wont be plagued with a newgrowth line...Enjoy............. You might also be enlighten with a slightly shorter ,perhaps layered cut??
