Are my curls gone forever??

by Raquel

I have naturally curly-wavy hair, never been colored or chemically treated. About a month ago a friend of mine straighted it using a very good straightener (that I had used before) and a product that she uses. I have straighted my hair before and it always goes back to curly after I wash it, so does my friend's. This time I washed my hair and it gave off a very odd smell- almost like a perm smell. And it stayed straight. Ever since then I've washed it often, used cleansing shampoo, diffuser, mousse, etc. but it never gets more than a slight wave! I miss my curls! Any idea what's wrong or suggestions?

If your hair is naturally curly and you put a straightneron it,it will take around 4 to 6 weeks for you real curls to come back..A chemical straightner is just that.It does smell like a perm sort of but the smell should be gone if you have shampooed it well as many times as you have stated. That part is the only puzzling part to me.Dont put that kind of treatment in your hair if you love your curls and expect it just to bounce back after a shampoo or two. Just use the flat iron with a conditioning product, For now all you CAN do is shampoo, condition and skrunch, with the diffuser and some gel and be happy until the chemical relaxes and wears off..Be more careful with your curls you are lucky. You can have the best of both worlds with curly hair and flat iron when you want a change..Good luck and patience to you
