This product has worked wonders for my hair. In the past I've always used products that were geared towards African American hair because that's what I was taught.

There are certain chemicals, such as relaxers, that are made specifically for our hair and it is necessary to stick with it. However for the daily maintenance it's about what works.

I sport a curly afro and the Aveda "Be Curly" products get the job done. This product line delivers the curls, softness, moisture, and reduces frizz even on coarse hair. It's works best on curly hairstyles, and great for African American women who sport their natural hair.

I start with "Be Curly" shampoo and conditioner.
Blot wet hair with dry terry cloth towel.

I try not to shampoo more than twice a week, not necessary for coarse or natural curly hair. Natural oils on your scalp are beneficial.
I spritz my hair with water in between washes and apply "Aveda Be Curly Curl Enhancer" it works best on damp hair and then I message my scalp lightly with organic coconut oil.

When hair is semi dry to keep curls moisturized, defined and frizz-free I use a diffuser(on low setting)for lift and volume.

For extra height I use a metal hair pick just on the roots, you should not pick your hair all the way out or you will lose the curls on the end.

To keep my hair big and curly on humid days I use a little hairspray after styling.

Before bed I always wrap my hair in a silk scarf to prevent frizz.

Well that's my hair story and I'm sticking to it.
Your truly "Simply Curly"

Amen to Aveda - I luv it

I agree with you about the products. I first started to use them when came out of the relaxer and my hair grew so fast. I wear a straight style now but after seeing your hair I think I am going back to the Aveda products. Thanks for sharing your story. Amen to Aveda.

Beautiful Hair

Your hair style is what I dream of having one day soon. My hair is short and natural right now. I wonder if I can achieve a smaller version of your hair? I'm trying it out tonight

Question
by: Saks

Hi...do you have a texturiser in your hair and then use the Be Curly product? Or does your natural texture have that lovely curl on its own and is enhanced by the product??

Thank U!

I just wanted to THANK you for your comments and information about your hair ritual. I am an African-American woman who has started "trying" to wear a curly fro. I was looking at the Aveda Be Curly line but wasn't sure if it would work on natural black hair -- your post has helped me make my decision to purchase. Thanks again!

Sounds Like Good Stuff!
by: Anonymous

This sounds like a product line that I need to try! In recent years, I've stopped smoothing my hair out as often and mostly wear it curly. Especially now that I live in a more humid climate. Something that would liven up my curls a bit sounds like just what I need. Thanks for the great info!
