Awful Curls

Hello, I desperatly need help with my curly hair because it´s curls aren´t defined at all. It just looks EXTREMLY BULKY AND TANGLED, plus it`s greasy from the roots but superdry on the tips,. I even have stopped dyeing it and using the flat iron or anything that can cause damage to it. I have to wash it everyday cause if not i get dandruff, although i use conditioner and a hair treatment for damaged hair 4 times a week it stills look like hell! Right now it`s about 50 cm. long and whatever haircut i get it looks bad...it´s always been like this, Please help me!!!!! i don´t know what to do.

Hi Stephania,

Sorry to hear you're not loving your curls. From the description of your regimen, it sounds as though there's just too much going on and your hair is suffering from over-attention, in a way. First of all, washing it every day is not a great idea. The ends are dry from over-cleansing and the oil glands on the scalp are working over-time to try and compensate for the constant washing away of your natural oils (which your hair needs!)

So the overactive sebaceous glands, combined with heavy conditioning and treatments is just too much. My advice would be to chill on the daily care. Get a good clarifying shampoo and use it a few times in a row, concentrating more on your scalp than your ends. Then use a good conditioner (but not a heavy treatment), concentrating more on the ends than the roots. Rinse everything VERY well. Lift the hair away from the scalp so that the water gets right in there and rinses everything clean.

Then, use a good leave-in product (mostly on the ends) to moisturize and define the curls. See our curly hair product recommendations. I'm thinking the Mixed Chicks products might be the best for your hair's needs.
