if you need to lighten your hair use luminize hair lightner for 10 minutes and rinse i dont know if it will work on black hair but it doesn't dry your hair out like dyes and bleach.i had medium brown hair and i went to medium blonde using luminize hair lightner over a course of 4 weeks and i dyed my hair to if you try it be patient and good luck.

So get a wig or change your look for awhile.

Okay, so you can either go buy a wig made out of horse hair or somebody else's hair OR you can do something with your makeup and wardrobe to match your new hairdo. The dye will come out eventually, but you can wash your hair vigorously a few more times in a day to quicken the pace.

Buy one pack uncolor by clairol, mix with 1oz. water,and1oz. good quality pro. shampoo!I recomend joico kerapro!Apply to wet clean hair one inchfrom scalp and one inch from ends in paper thin panels! When lifted three fourths to desired color pull through to ends and roots for about 10 min.or until color match is achieved!Follow with a non peroxide lt. brown, a good trim , and joico moisturising balm 20 min. Then pray to THE COLOR GOD!!!!!Honest it works!!!!

I've lightened my hair using 1/2 part 20 volume hydrogen peroxide (the kind you buy at a beauty supply store) and 1/2 part shampoo. Shampoo in and keep an eye on it. It doesn't lighten dramatically but will lift the color a bit. When lightening hair from a darker color, you will always get orange (the blue pigment leaves the hair first) so be prepared for that with any method you use. You can correct the orange tone, once you achieved your lightness level, by coloring with a "Neutral" color that's not too dark. This would be anything that's level 7 and above & at the grocery store, something that is labeled "Ash". Good luck. :)

Don't forget that Ash colors have a Green cast to them, or you may end up with a greenish tone like bleached blondes have when they go into a pool. I wish you the best. But i know the color can change . Lol Ive been coloring my hair since i was 16 yrs old.

Caution!
by: Debbie

I'm a bit concerned here because people are offering advice without knowing the condition of the hair and where other chemicals have previously been applied. For example, if the hair is chemically relaxed and 20 volume developer is used, the hair may break and fall out - I use a 5 volume developer in that circumstance. The suggestion to go to a Cosmetology school is good. You can have your hair corrected with a licensed stylist supervising at a very affordable price. Good luck. Black color stains the hair shaft so it's hard to remove, but it can be lifted enough to apply a brown toner.

Doesn't ALL haircolor "stain" the hairshaft? FYI, Not all cosmetology schools can be trusted. I wouldn't go to Booker in Hudsonville, MI for one. They put bleach ALL over my hair just to lighten it 2 levels. IDIOTS.

Sorted.... iv now got a light shade of brown and love it. Went to boots, brought a pre-lightener and a normal dye and it worked perfectly.

Bye bye to black hair forever

Some advice
by: Anonymous

You can not lift color with color. When I had black hair, I had to bleach it, and then put a toner over it.You're hair is more then likely going to turn a brassy color, so a redish brown would be a good color to put over it.

LC, can i ask, what pre-lightener did you use?
iv used quite a few and i always end up with blonde roots and the rest bright orange! did the same happen to you? or am i just doing this completely wrong? lol.

My goodness. Well, be patient, whatever you do to lighten it..it's not going to instant.. sorry :( I got my hair dyed at a salon from dark brown (almost black, that I had been dying it for YEARS) and it came out pretty orange after five hours in the chair. HOWEVER... I did it again on my friends hair at home and we got her to platinum in two bleachings. BUT BE CAREFUL and wait AT LEAST a few days between bleachings (we used Kalidocolor ((sp?)) powder and 30/40 vol. developer from sally's). Also, when you get to the lightness you need to go back to Lt. brown.. BEWARE THE ASH!!! I used a dark ash blonde on my light blonde treated hair and it came out GREEN. I had to use a red hair dye to make it look brown again haha.

Color opps
by: Anonymous

Color Opps will remove dyed color and put it back to your natural color or as close to the base of that as possible. It has no bleach or anything of the sort in it. It just makes the molecule bigger and it runs out of the hair. Make sure you have new shade picked out to place in the hair after using. It will not work on lightened hair only on hair that is wrong color that went darker.

lighten the hair with honey and chamomile tea treatment also you can pour creme 20 peroxide developer on the hair or pour the context of peroxide creme developer inside shampoo until it lighten your hair, it does take time and patience.. when you reach the lighten color you can dye it with light ted brown than later with auburn light then to strawberry blonde then what you been waiting for the light brown, one box light ash brown mixed with 2 boxes dark ash blonde and a 30 developer if you feel it to light then you can lower the volume on peroxide to 20 and one box of light ash brown and one box of ash dark blonde and you will achieve that light brown color you looking for it worked for me and my hair length is long good luck.. dont rush the process it took about 3 month tops to lighten tops to lighten the hair with natural process... the the other months in between with the color dyes like 8 months more so it will take one yr for you to achieved it mean while lighten the hair with honey you will get the color you want it a high price to pay for coloring our hair in such a drastic dark color such as black my natural hair color is dark ash blonde ... word of advice if you girls want to have dark color just die it dark brown and it be much easier to lighten... good luck...
