Bleaching hair without burning scalp?

i bleached my sons hair...it started to burn so i immediately rinsed it out....he likes the brassiness of the color and wants to keep it....he has a really mild burn from this process and i dont want to damage his head any more....how can i keep that color without injuring his head anymore....he was a dirty blonde when i bleached his hair...

Bleach is a high alkaline product, think lye, and is generally too strong for most young people's heads. Aveda has a great product, enlightener with booster that burns the least of any product I know. I like to go platinum on occasion. Best bet, go to a professional.

next time add a packet of sweet & low to the bleach mix, it will reduce most of the burning sensation . make sure to only put it on his roots and keep a close eye on it so it's not on any longer than necessary
