Blonde Highlights turned gray?

I have dark brown hair with blonde highlights. I wanted to lighten up the dark and perhaps darken up the blonde. I tried a cool brown hair dye and applied it myself. The dark parts look great, but now i have gray highlights. Can this be fixed? Will I have to wait a certain period of time before I get it dyed again (this time by a professional)?

try using a reddish brown color conditioner. that should make a huge difference. leave it on for ten or fifteen minutes then rinse. if not enough, try a couple of times.
