Can I dye my hair again tomorrow if I just dyed it tonight...etc?

I dyed my hair black a couple months ago..my hair was a natural brown/black but i bleached 2 strips in it & they turned orange so i dyed it black to get it out...well i just decided tonight to bye red hair dye from the store (Garnier Nutrisse True Red 66) well it just basically dyed the roots a rich red so now my roots are red & the rest of my hair is black so it doesn't look good. Can i go buy more of the same dye tomorrow & just dye the black part & not the roots, to get it more red? or will i have to completely dye it over & wait longer to do it?
