Can I use color oops on black human hair extensions?

Right now I have black hair because I dye it that way. The natural color of my hair is light brown so that is why I dye it. Here soon I am thinking about dying my hair to a dark dark brown because I'm getting really sick of the black and I seriously need a change. The only problem with dying my hair dark brown is that I have black hair extensions(same color as my hair now) and I don't want to bleach them because it may ruin them. My question to you is: Could I use color oops on my hair extensions? They are not synthetic, they are 100% human hair! I want to get rid of the black so I can dye the hair extensions dark brown also.

hair color removal
by: Michelle

I haven't personally tried that so can't comment on whether it's effective.

The major factor that complicates things is that human hair extensions are treated with some volatile chemicals as part of the cleaning process, so they're more apt to suffer damage from any sort of chemical coloring process and the state of the hair underneath the finished color is unpredictable. Doing a strand test will give you a good indication of the results you'll get.

Do a 'strand test' by applying the hair color remover to only one piece of the hair extensions and wrapping that section up in foil to process. If it doesn't work out, you can snip the piece out (make sure do this on a back/underneath piece). Include a bit of your natural hair in the strand test to compare the difference of how the product affects each.

Hope this helps,
