Here's an amazing hair remedy straight from nature. Pure, organic coconut oil. It's light, smells terrific, and has been used around the globe for thousands of years... not just as a hair remedy.
The benefits of and uses for coconut oil and coconut milk can fill books, and in fact do! See top-rated books on Coconut Oil at Amazon.com
Here's a brief synopsis of how coconut oil or milk can be used to improve the condition of your hair and scalp...
COCONUT OIL
Shine & Softness
Coconut oil enhances shine and gives an incredible glossy softness to the hair. Use it as a deep treatment...
Simply add a few tablespoons of pure virgin coconut oil to dry or slightly damp hair. Wrap it in a hot, wrung out towel or plastic bag, then cover with a thick dry towel. Allow the oil to work into the hair (and scalp if needed) for at least 30 minutes.
Doing this before a bath or shower is the most effective. The heat will open the cuticle layer of the hair, allowing the coconut oil to penetrate deep into the hair shaft. the hair's inner structure.
Relief from Dandruff/Scalp Conditions
Coconut oil has anti-fungal and anti-microbial qualities that help combat dandruff and bacterial scalp infections. Apply virgin coconut oil to the scalp. Occasionally leave it on for a prolonged period (30 minutes or so) before shampooing.
Hair Loss
Coconut oil is even believed to slow hair loss by revitalizing and exfoliating dead skin tissue from the scalp. Apply the oil directly to the scalp and massage with your fingertips for 5 minutes. Shampoo as usual.
Considertaions
Look for organic, virgin, unrefined coconut oil. The oil is usually solid in its container and will melt with the heat of your hands. Use a spoon or spatula to scoop out the oil so that you don't contaminate your container... especially if you're using it for a bacterial scalp infection.
COCONUT MILK
Strength and Protection
Unlike coconut oil, coconut milk contains proteins, which strengthen hair and can help to minimize breakage. It also has properties which protect hair and scalp from UV rays.
Of course, using coconut oil or coconut milk internally will also do wonders for your hair. Learn more about the benefits of coconut oil
