Dark Brown hair to Blonde

by Hannah Charlton
(Leicestershire, UK)

I have naturally dark drown hair. But last summer i went blonde, and soon got bored of this and so dyed it with a home dye kit - brazillian brunnette, Loreal colouring.

However after all that dying im now missing my blonde locks, how easy is it going to be to get back to blonde (of the christina aguilera variety)?

Back to blonde

Hi Hannah,

Removing a dark brown artificial pigment will require some serious work... especially for an all-over blonde. Read our advice on hair color removal to learn about the process.

Another option is to foil in some highlights. However, this does require the use of bleach, and can have a dire effect on the condition of your hair.

Since you were recently blonde, that damage still exists on your hair (unless you keep your hair very short and all of the previously blonded hair has been cut off). Re-lightening will create further damage, which will definitely require some reconstructing treatments.

All the best,
Michelle
