Dieing hair bright colors

I am sixteen and would like to die my hair a fun color and style before I become too old so that it isn't acceptable anymore. I dont nesscarly want a punk or 'emo' style. I went to a salon and got my tip on the top few layers of my hair done in neoon red and it looked great. I want to do so agian but a different style but still neon red and at home. I have naturaly dark/medium hair. Some suggestion would be great.

Hi Meghan,

Unless you're starting with very light blonde hair, you need to lighten the hair first in order to get a really bright shade that shows up. Here are instructions and product suggestions for getting a bright punky color. If you only want the color on certain sections, use foils to separate the hair and brush the color on to the area you want it. Then fold the foil up while the color processes.
