My hairdresser picked the wrong card with my color on it it was someone else and it had red in it. i am a light blond. Well needless to say i turned dark red, so she bleach it. then i turned out like carrot top no offence then she lightened it again then i looked like tweety bird. have to go back tomorrow what will she do now? I can't go out looking like a clown so can you help me? thank you for your advise.

Yikes...

Hi Pat,

That's a big oopsie! Here's a few things you should know...

Firstly, it's not necessary to use bleach. The color can be removed with an oxidative haircolor remover. (more about hair color removal here) This would be less damaging than repeated bleaching, but I suppose if she had it on hand she would have used it, so she must not have any in stock.

I presume she'll either bleach it again or try to convince you to remain a darker color so she can just deposit a brown tone and be done with it. In either case, I suggest you ask her if she's got an oxidative haircolor remover (many salons use a product called Modulat... smells like death, but works a charm). If not, bleaching again will work.

Funny thing about red pigments (well, not so funny in your case)... when you want them to stay in the hair, they wash out too easily. When you want them to go, they're stubborn as heck. To get back to blonde, the hair will need to be lightened to a pale yellow stage, then toned.

After that, your hair will benefit from intensive reconstructing treatments. Because this mishap is completely your stylist's fault, she should supply you with products or complimentary hair treatments to improve the condition of your hair. Sorry to hear this happened to you. I hope it gets sorted out very soon!

All the best,
Michelle
