Possibly through months of growing it out

If you want to stop coloring your hair and go back to your natural color and you are grey naturally, then your best bet is to cut your hair short and grow out the color over time. Possibly going a light bonde first will help the roots not look as bad during the growing out process. I have heard of people using a semi-permanent color as the grey grows in to disguise the roots, but that seems like a lot of trouble and unless it is a very light color, you will be dark one day and grey the next when you finally have grown out all the permanent color and stop using the rinse. Good luck...the freedom is wonderful!

i would suggest that if you dont want to cut it short, to highlight very heavy the dark hair. the next time you go in for a hc, maybe highlight more. at that time probably use a platinum toner on the highlights to blend more with the natural grey. do only the old haircolor with toners and colors. you dont wanna do anything to the grey since thats what you eventually want to end up with.
