To create soft look, Edward Teitel recommends preparing the hair with soft random textures. In this case, he used a flat iron (HAI Elite Nano XT) a thermal spray (HAI Performance Spray)to achieve the random curls after the hair was put in a ponytail. Then pin the curls in place with bobbie pins till you achieve the perfect balance of head shape to dress silhouette.
Once the desired look is achieved use strong aerosol hairspray to make sure the style stays for the rest of the day.
