Frizzy Hair Growth after Chemotherapy

My hair is growing back after chemotherapy but is extremely frizzy. I always had straight hair but the new growth is frizzy all the way down to the roots. I've had it cut short twice but it is still frizzy. Is there anything that I can do about it?

I had the same problem after radiation a few years back, and found a couple of products that worked for me. One is a leave in protein treatment found only at beauty supply stores. Look for a liquid in a vial, and don't be fooled by creams in tubes. The other is Pantene Moisture Renewal for regular use. The protein treatment is not something you do every week, and you will know when you need it again. Good luck!!

you could get a staight perm? Or just use some moisture/ smoothing treatments. I find paul mitchell is amazing!

options to improve hair

It will take some time for your hair to grow normally due to the residual effects of the Chemotherapy. At this point, you could certainly do some hair treatments (both protein AND moisture as too much protein can make the hair brittle). This article explains more about hair conditioning treatments and the products (and process) I recommend.

DO NOT have any kind of chemical process done (perming, straightening, or coloring, other than gentle semi-permanent color formulas). Here's a bit more info on dealing with post-Chemo hair.

Also, make sure that you're meeting your body's nutritional needs for growing healthy hair. Find out more about that in this article (midway down the page).

Hope this helps,
