Could be many reasons

Kim, I'd be less concerned with how a future employer views you than about your overall health, and so would suggest you see a Dr. or dermatologist. "Bald spots" can occur for many reasons, and incorrect use of colorm products can certainly cause damage, but it would usually be in the form of breakage along the shaft. Do you wear your hair tightly pulled back? That can cause hair loss. Do you use a hot appliance such as a straightener? That could also cause some damage. Poor diet, medications, and certain health conditions can also result in hair loss. At such a young age, again, I'd suggest seeing a professional in person for some real answers. Before you get those, I'd also suggest giving your hair a break for awhile. Try a short layered style you can tousle, which will help disguise the bad color. Good luck.
