Hair straightening problem

(Illinois)

I've been straightening my hair with a flat iron I bought at the drug store for a few years, and I used to dye my hair at a salon. Now my hair has split ends everywhere. I don't want to cut my hair short to get rid of them all because I'm wanting to grow it out longer.

I think the split ends are actually making my hair gradually shorter when they fall out or if I pick them out (it's a bad habit I have now). I also have the problem of hating the way it looks when I don't straighten it, so I'm not really considering to stop straightening unless its the last option I have... what should I do about it? I've thought about the Japanese hair straightening technique but it might be too damaging on my hair the way it is, and on top of that it's very expensive.

Split ends

Allowing your hair to split can create a long-term disaster. That's why regular trims are so important. Excessive heat styling will only exacerbate the problem.

Japanese hair straightening may be a good solution if you want permanently straight hair, but it does require an investment and some research to find a qualified technician. And of course, there's the regrowth to deal with.

Another option is to try some new styling techniques that will make the most of your natural texture. Here are some critical tips for styling naturally curly hair, eliminating frizz and creating smooth voluptuous curls or waves.

Either way, cutting the split ends out is a must. Once the hairs split, they continue to separate up the hair shaft, resulting in weak hair that is frizzy in appearance.

All the best,
