Highlights not as expected

Hello
Could you advise please? Yesterday, my Mom went to the hairdressers and she asked for some light blonde highlights to blend in with the grey in her hair, so that it would look more natural (her natural colour is medium ash blonde) But the highlights the hairdresser put in are more of a dark caramel shade - and she hates it! What is the best way to disguise them and put her back to her natural colour with the minimum fuss please?
Thanks
Su

highlites gone bad
by: Anonymous

you can easily correct this problem. go back to the salon and request that your stylist redo the highlites at no charge or go to a beauty supply place like sallys and buy a bleach kit and pull hair through a cap or if experienced use foil be very careful if you have never done this before the bleach will damage your hair if you don't know what you are doing. and always do deep conditioning after. if you pull through the cap try to get the hair that is carmel color only brush the bleach on both sides of the hair and check every 10 minutes until it is light enough wash out and shampoo and condition. if they are carmel color it might take about 40 minutes but everyones hair is different so check often. remember hair goes through stages to get to the blonde stage so be patient. hope this helps and good luck with what you decide
