highlights too light

I recently got highlights in my dark brown hair. They came out a brassy blonde which I do not care for. (I wanted a honey/cinnamon color) Anyhow, I called my stylist and she said she would tone it w/ a toner. My question is this: 1)will is be temporary and the blonde come back after a couple of months or 2)will it get rid of highlights completely? I paid a lot of money to have my hair done. I want to know if she's taking shortcuts instead of redoing my highlights?? Thanks for any input

no no she isnt taking a shortcut....by going dark & redoing the highlights you will come into the same problem & hi lights are permanent in the hair they just grow out as your hair grows. by toning the highlights she is applying a "blonde" shade into the hair to tone down the brassiness. this is the safest thing to do to leave your hair is good condition
