Removing Black Color
by: Anonymous

You will need a decent bleach product to remove the black. I would suggest using 20 volume peroxide with it, and applying it 1/2" away from the scalp, through to the ends. You will need to go through several stages of underlaying pigment. How far you go will depend on what color you will want to be when you get finished. Brunettes will need to be lifted up to an orangey-stage,blondes will need to go up to a light yellow stage. When you think your hair is about halfway to where you need it...remove the excess product with an old towel, mix a fresh batch, and now apply to the root section, and go again straight through to the ends. (Scalp heat will process roots quicker)Rinse, shampoo, and then you are ready to color. If you are wanting to be brunette, you may want to use an ash tone to contrast out unwanted warmth in the hair. Use a semi-permanent, and apply to the whole head. Good luck

Alternative to bleach

Hi Rika,

Bleach will do the job, but it isn't the best option for removing artificial hair color. Learn about hair color removal here.

Removing Black Hair Dye
by: Daniel Masse

If it is a metallic dye like Nice N Easy, tough luck. Cannot remove it !

I am a hairstylist, and won't touch this, just match the roots or refuse the customer.

But if a black dye is the professional aniline derivative (haircolor), a cocktail shampoo is possible with unsure results.

Someone that had Nice N Easy black color for five years, oh well, it does not even remove it with 100 pure volume creme developer ! Yes 100 Volume, I have seen it, but hard to find.

Shave the whole head and start all over again but this time with professional haircoloring done at the salon.

i've tried to tell people 5.5 gigbillion times not to color their hair with permanent crap black dye. No removing. Same thing with these metallic dyes. No getting rid of that stuff. I'm not an active Cosmetologist, but I maintain my license.

Nice and Easy - RUBBISH
by: Anonymous

I also dyed my hair dark brown in order to try and get it close to my original colour. Instead my hair looks near enough black when inside. I was just going to try dying it a dark blonde colour and see what happens. Never again!

Used Nice n Easy 122 for over ten years!
by: Anonymous

Me and my faithful 122 have been together for over ten years, i suit my black hair and i love it, but like everything else i want a wee change.

My hairdress knows me, has told me how to remove it and my hair is down my back ( can i add its a very reputable hairdressers) i know have gorge chestnutty brown hair and soon to betting some blonde highlights in for my summer wedding.

I dont know why other hairdressers have to over react and make ppl like you freak out and get upset!!

My hairdresser did stress the hard work and money invilved in changing my hair, but thats what she is there for isnt it?

Remove Nice & Easy Black Dye
by: Daniel Masse

There is one cheap solution to remove Nice & Easy black dye :

Buzz up the whole head with #4 or #5 guard ! And spike it up !

It is very effective and results oriented.

Metallic salts dye are difficult to remove. So much to pay by wanting to save money in buying box color at the beauty and aid section.

The only other thing you could do: get a hairdresser that will do a root touchup to the Nice and Easy on midshaft to end.

Black dye removal
by: Anonymous

I died my hair black in January and hated it. I used Loreal hair dye remover and it dried my hair out and made it blonde and orange so I could recolor it. It looked a mess for about two hours, but after I redyed it and conditioned it a lot everything was fine.

Nice N easy - never again!!!
by: Anonymous

I did the same mistake! I thought my hair would turn into a nice rich dark brown, which the box suggested. I'm a natural medium brown, instead my hair turned black!!! I have been searching the Internet for a while, when I stumbled upon this blog, which then led me to this group:

http://groups.google.com/group/killerstrands/subscribe?note=1

Sign up! It's worth it! There is a product, which they talk about in the group that you can order which is called Vanish Color Corrector. It claims to do miracles in removing hair dye. There is also a process called shampoo train, which can be used with Vanish. You will find testimonials in the group. I am in the process of ordering this! If you would like to be taken straight to ordering the product, the website is:

http://killerstrands.myshopify.com/products/vanish-color-remover

I would recommend you to join the group first, if you are unsure about the product. From what I have read in the group, the product works miracles. I am hoping it will work for me as well! I hope this helps!!

Vanish Hair Color Corrector
by: Michelle

Thanks to the previous commenter for letting us know about Vanish Color Corrector!

I've included a link to this product on amazon.com, where it is quite a bit cheaper than the website you mentioned.

It sounds as though Vanish works in a similar manner to other haircolor removal products, but may have the advantages of being less smelly and easier to work with because of the gel consistency.

I haven't personally tried this one though, so I'd be interested in hearing from people who have used this product or other haircolor removal products.

Cheers,

Black Removed
by: Anonymous

I had Nice and Easy Blue Black in my hair and my colorist removed it and made me a light caramel brown color. My hair wasn't even damaged, and I had the drugstore black for over five years. Just get a colorist who knows what they're doing and is competent.

I want my hair to fade. I don't know how to get the results that it said on the box!!!
by: Anonymous

I used Nice and Easy hair dye and went from a medium blonde and used the dark natural brown color only it turned my hair black... I have washed it three times and it isn't fading. I am hoping it will fade as some hair colors usually do. I need help otherwise.

I have noticed when I wash my hair, it comes out in the water even though it's a permanent color so that's promising!

Removing Black Hair Dye-Try this home remedy
by: Lorri

I used the Nice and Easy Perfect 10 Golden Dark Brown and ended up with BLACK hair. Quite a shocker and just too dark, almost like coal. Yikes!!!

About a week later I decided I just had to do something, so I used the Neutrogena Anti Residue Shampoo. I applied it to dry hair and slept in it overnight. The next morning I shampooed my hair and tons of color went down the drain. Don't get me wrong, my hair is still a very dark brown/black but it looks MUCH better that it did a week ago. Plus I had some blonde highlights with my dark brown hair before I colored so now I can see highlights and they area a brownish red color which is pretty nice. I conditioned with the deep conditioner that came with the Perfect 10 color so my hair looks very healthy and shiny. I've also heard that warm olive oil overnight works as well. I might try that as well, it can't hurt. Don't bleach unless you absolutely have to. Try this home remedy for at least a couple of times. You might change your mind. Also, instead of all over bleaching try a couple of highlights to give the hair dimension.
I am not a hair stylist. Just speaking from personal experience.

Good colour for dark brown + how to remove black die
by: Anonymous

So many people are complaining about dark brown hair dye turning black.

To get the perfect dark brown hair (without too much red in it) get l'oreal recital preference Natural Dark Brown. It has cool tones and doesn't make your hair look too dark even though it is.

I lightened my hair with mahogany brown and then put Sun-In and didn't like it and the L'oreal worked perfectly.

Before doing this I used anti-dandruff shampoo mixed with laundry powder to wash the red brown out of my hair. This should also work to remove enough of the coloured black hair to lighten it to put on a regular brown colour.
