Big work...

Hi Jessica,

It sounds like you're aware of how damaging this can be for your hair, so I won't lecture you on that. Two words though... "chemical haircut."

Ahem... here's the most effective way to get it done...

Rather than using bleach right off the bat, try an oxidative haircolor remover. This will remove just the artificial pigments. It'll probably leave you with an orange/rust color. At that point, you can use bleach. Lighten it to a very pale yellow color and then tone it.

You mention having colored your hair several times, so you may find it difficult to get an even tone from roots to ends.

If, after using the hair color remover, you notice that it's darker at the ends, apply the bleach to just the ends first and when they're at about the same level of lightness as the top, apply the bleach everywhere. It might be a good idea to rinse the bleach off your ends and apply a fresh batch from roots to ends.

Regular hair reconstructing treatments are a MUST for hair that is processed to this level.

only one way

this process must be done professionally and will take at least 3 visits to remove all the black from the hair. I do a full head of highlights using a non amonia lightner.when highlights reach a gold tone rinse and dry hair. Then apply a non amonia, demi permanent toner in a caramel shade. on the next visit I repeat this process, careful to only pick up the black hair and place in the foil to be highlighted. eventually you have a beautiful caramel shade with no black. At this point I put in another head of highlights in a gorgeous blonde shade. now you have a beautiful caramel base with hot vanilla blonde highlights. Oh and lots of conditioning treatments as you go.
