how to take out the red in my hair to a light brown

by jan

I normally have med. brown hair. Over the past i have dyed it myself using lorele permanent color. Last time I used a dark blonde thinking it would go light brown. Parts of my hair went to a reddish color throughout my hair.I had a stylist a month ago put in med. blonde high lights. I would like to know how to get the red out of my hair and the highlights now and change it to a light brown all over. Is there anyway to achieve this?

Removing red undertones
by: Anonymous

To remove red undertones:
Try using "Ash" dyes (ex: deep ash brown, light ash brown). They add colder tones to your hair, and don't turn red. If you naturally have red undertones in your hair however, your color will eventually begin to turn orange-reddish. There are special shampoos you can use that help maintain the ash in your hair. Hope that helps.
