Hi Zoe,

You are one of those lucky girls who looks great with dark hair. I've tried darkening mine a few times, hoping it would suit me like it does you, and it's terrible on me.

Concerning the blonde, I wouldn't recommend it. Not just because of how it might look, but because of the maintenance involved and the level of damage to your hair by lightening it that much. If you want a bit of a change, try adding some interest with a bit of lightening underneath, like this. This would look good in either a blonde color, or golden brown... or even a red!

A great way to tell what you'd look like in a different color or style is with a virtual hairstyle program. You can upload a photo of yourself and try on tons of styles and colors.

I am not a colourist or trained but I can honestly say, I have changed my haircolour nearly every shade and sucessfully too! I say you will look real great with an ash-blonde hair shade. Check out with a good clourist and go ahead and add some change which will also uplift your spirits. Your eyes will really pop with that shade!

Basicly , i have the same hair colour as you (natturally) and i have the same eyebrow colour the only difference is i have blue eyes!
i dyed my hair plantunum blonde and it looked god damn awful...
but then i tried a more natural shade and it looked awesome so just try it with a wash in wash out colour and see what u think :D

I would say gradually work your way to blonde, try going brunette first and get lighter... the sudden change may be real scary, & you would probably have to try a few different blondes until you found the right one. :) good luck x

perhaps highlights would be a good first move and if it goes well you could move on and do your whole hair when you're ready :)

i was thinking of going a lighter shade as well cos im naturally ash blonde but it looks kinda dull

i used to have black hair its took me agesss to get it the colour it is now its medium brown with lots of highlights its blonde but has a tinge of copper to it all you can do is try it it might be worth it when its all done ill just say now though i have been ginger about 10 times but im very happy with it now

in my opinion, platinum blonde doesn't really do it for anyone. and with your eyebrows and skin tone, if you wanted blonde i would choose a warmer blonde like caramel or honey blonde.

well, im thinking exactly the same thing!
i have really dark hair, pale skin tone and green eyes.
i'm going for a strand test in 2 days time.
my mother says i'll regret it big time, but you can only take a chance.
i say just go for it.
i'm like you, i want a change and i want it now.

i mean obviously you cant go black to platinum blonde in one dye so it takes time anyway, if you start off and dont like it, go dark again.
but dont panic, leave it a few weeks at a time before you dye it again too :)

amy is going to a hair salon on thursday... gettting my hair colour stripped and then dying it lighter, with highlights, will this work going from dark brown to blonde or will it go reddish?

I have worked in the hair industy and have myself changed my hair colour numerous times. Going from black to blonde will take a lot of time and money to maintain - roots start showing very quickly and if not done right it can strip your hair of essential nutrients. It's fun to try new things, so if you are willing to put in the time you might like it. I would beware of one thing - blonde hair tends to make people look younger - school girl age. Just a precaution.

If you're interested in a more edgy shade - red steaks or undertones would look great with your complexion (due to your warm skin and dark complexion) and would bring so much warmth and intrigue to your eyes.

If you are dead set on going the blonde route - I know what it's like to try to change someone's mind when it's set.... I can't even make myself change mine - then I would suggest a warm honey colour - not a platinum because it will look unnatural and won't compliment your eyes as well. Honey again is a warmer shade and will go well with your skin.

The best thing for the blonde shade would be to use a honey caramel shade and highlight it underneath a layer of darker hair - then when it grows out you don't have to colour it to hide the roots right away. Also it will add a level of interest without making too stark a contrast. If you love it and still want more, then you already know what the blonde will look like and can make a more informed decision.

I think your dark hair is lovely, and although blonde hair can look nice it can often be quite disasterous if not dyed properly. I think if you really wanted to you could try a lighter brown to give you a change of scene, but otherwise , if you got it, flaunt it ! (:

i'm a professional at these things cuz i always dye peoples hairs myself, and have experienced alot, i would say that blonde will look great and hot on you because your eyebrows are thin and dark rather then thick and dark. thick black eyebrows woulden't look good with blonde, however thin eyebrows matches perfectlly. i recommend you to try it ;)

I don't think you will suit platinum blonde. However,I think you may be able to find a shade of blonde that will best suit your skin tone so it wont wash you out. Go to a good hairdresses/colourists hopefully you will be happy with your end result, whatever you decide.

Hmmm possibly, theres no harm in tryin' I guess that's what I did, I resently bleached my hair platnum bloude ( Dark brown to Platnum blonde) and I think It looks great and thats what everyone's been sayin' but the only big problem is the regrowth ( Roots) But you can just go to the salon and get them done.

ok listen girl , you are like so pretty and i think you could look so great with an other style like "LATINA" you have dark skin and dark hair try putting volume in it and use some LITTLE dark make up that would look wonderfull and sexy , if you get blond hair it would look good but cheap because :

1.Blondies are out Latinas are in (brunettes)
2.Dark skin and platinum blond hair ? looks kinda cheap , like a hoe :/
3.If you want blond hair you have to bleach it first and as i can see your hair is a little bit thin soo if you bleach it you will have a bald head because that will damage your hair soooo much , same like by my sister -.- she had such nice hair like you and now she looks like so ugly with that thing on her haid .

i think you would look like a cheap , fake , weirdo with blonde hair anyway, i have hair so dark people think i dont kknow my own hair colour when i say its brown and they say its black, so i know how ya feel, i want blonde hair too, the strangest thing is that my skin is REAL pale, no joke (im'a ghostt!) maybe you should try a cherry/red colour, that would look sweet, and you smile reminds me of a cherry!:D
