Natural color

I think that your coloring is perfect with your natural color. I would hesitate to suggest a light color unless you have actually seen someone with your coloring with a lighter color that you thought looked great.

ok if by lighter you mean by blonde then your color is ok because blondes look good with pale skin. if you meant like brown or something i would get tanner like bonzish because brunnettes look better tan.

I don't advise

Your hair is way too dark to go blonde. Your eyebrows will stand out...if you want a lighter shade like a medium to dark brown that might work but your hair is pretty...I'd leave it alone.

Maybe Highlights/low lights/wigs?
by: Anonymous

Maybe you can do a combination of hi/low lights to give your hair some dimension and making it a little lighter without having to commit to bleaching your hair if you're thinking of going blonde. Just a baby step before going through a major change. My natural haircolor is dark brown/black like yours and i've gone blonde. I would leave it to a professional but it's a very long process and doesn't come at a cheap price. Another option is trying on a wig in a lighter color that you like with a style similar to yours. This way you can play with different shades of colors until you find one that you really like. Good luck!

Going lighter
by: Christine

You have an olive complexion and going lighter can be tricky. I personally think your dark hair is beautiful just the way it is. But If you want to go lighter I would go with caramel brown. You could also go with light brown highlights. It would be less damaging to your hair. If you want to go blond, stick with the ash blonds. Anything yellow toned will wash you out and look really phony, not to mention would require a double hair coloring process which will really damage and dry out your hair. It would be in your best interets to consult a professional colorist before you do anything.

You Can Be Stylish... But
by: 3thingsuneed

I also think you should get Highlights Low lights.. you hair would look very stylish.. But Do Not color All Over! around the face with maybe strawberry blond,, Nothing too drastic.. but enough to notice..You could also do your TIPS on the hair underneath in a blond.. very cool.. do not get a GOLDEN anything hair looks brassy afterwards... Good Luck

Get some highlights
by: Anonymous

My hair is similiar in color. I have mine with highlights which really brighten up my face. I'd try that first before you lighten up all your color.

rule of thumb...you should not go 2 levels lighter or darker then your natural hair color..

no no no

i think you should really just get a few highlights. in order to lighten up your entire head you will have to strip your color, which is sooo damaging to your hair. Plus it would mean A LOT of upkeep because your natural is so dark, you'll be doing your hair every couple of weeks, again, DAMAGEING. just stick with the highlights/low light combo to get that two-tone your looking for.

my experience
by: Anonymous

I had similar coloring - and went to the salon. The lady bleached my hair, and burned not only my hair but also blistered my scalp. I had never heard that that could happen! So...if you do it, make sure you do it with someone who is RECOMMENDED - not just anyone who does hair. ;)

One more thing
by: Anonymous

In 3 days I could already see my dark color coming through. It is very hard to maintain. I went back to dark. :(
