Its a personal choice

This is just such a personal choice I hate to even commit..My choice would be to cut it in a little boy cut but to maybe just not too short. This way he would look more boyish but still leave some of those great curls.It would also make him more comfortable also...Just MY personal opinion..But he is your boy you have to decide!!! Good luck..Also if you cut it it will help get the fine "uneven baby hair off and make his hair look more "cared for" and healthier..If you chose to grow it back it will look healthier also...
