Pale blonde vs. extra light ash blonde

by Julie Campbell
(Elkton, VA)

Up until I was 21 I had light blonde hair. Then at the roots it started going to a dirty blonde. So Ive been using a light ash blonde to try and even out the color. But I would like to try a new color to get rid of the brassy-yellowish color. I would like some advice on weather I should use a pale blonde or an extra light ash blonde. I have always used the ash colors because it helps with the red tint that my hair gets with a non-ash color. But I think the ash color is what gives my hair the brassy-yellowish tint. Or do you think another color all together? I have tried light brown but I just don't think I look good with that color.

Use a natural shade instead of ash. Pale blonde would be ok too.

a high-level blonde with purple

If you like the level of your hair color (which is very flattering), you can use a deposit-only (semi or demi) color all over your hair with a PURPLE base. You'll want colors that say "violet" or "pearl," and you'll want it at the same level as your current hair color. Another option is to buy purple-based shampoos that deposit color in your hair. It also works well

extra light ash

deposit only color will not lift your roots. You could use the extra light blonde on the roots only and it will lift you up. If it doesnt lift enough mix it with 30 volume peroxide. your color looks light extra light blonde but that might lift red on your roots so try the extra light ash.
