depends

It depends on what shade of brown you'd like to be. Achieving a warm shade is simplest and the least risky as far as 'green casts' go. If you're looking for a more neutral or ash shade, then you'll need to use an ash based color which has more blue pigments and can give a green/grey cast.

The condition of your hair is really the determining factor. If your hair is over-porous, steer clear of any ash tones for now and deposit a nice warm brown (not too dark as your hair will really absorb the pigments). Use a semi-permanent (no ammonia) color. They're gentler on the hair and perfect for such applications.

Best,
