Red hair color to blonde?

I have been dying my hair red for a really long time and I'm getting sick of it. I'm a natural blond and want to get back to blonde. i was wondering if I should just dye it blonde with hair dye or bleach it then dye it blonde. I'm not sure which one will give me a better blonde.

 get some highlights

You may want to get highlights as opposed to just dying it back to something that resembles your natural color. Its very difficult to match a natural shade exactly, maybe just do highlights/lowlights to blend in whatever new growth is coming in.
