I have been dying my hair for years but want to return to my natural colour which is mainly grey. I hate the "line" of grey when its growing out is it possible to tke out the dye some how, or would hi lights be better?

professional color remover

Elimi8 is a product by Rusk that will strip unwanted color from the cuticle layer without further damage. There is a product by Schwarzkopf that can remove permament color at a molecular level....Igora modulat/color remover both of these products for use by professionals only....amazing technology so find a salon that handles either of those product lines and find a professional colorist worth every penny!

I really believe you just need to highlight. This way you wont have the line so much just try to get as close to you natural color as possible.Sometimes actually, when you strip your hair it will not go to the natural color!! It will be red-or orange etc,,,You can do this and lighten it all over as close to the natural color but it would be a vey drastic change for you. Good luck to you.

Ah but believe it or not i actualy want to go back to being grey! I am going to be working in a remote area of Uganda where i wont be able to get hair dye but where grey hais is greatly respected as a sign of long life! Highlighting would just add yet another colour.

GOING BACK TO GREY

TWO OPTIONS BOTH UTILIZING A PROFESSIONAL COLORIST SPECIALIZING IN CORRECTIVE COLOR:

1. REMOVE ALL TINT WITH COLOR REMOVER, THEN TONE WITH SEMI OR DEMI COLOR IN PALEST SHADE POSSIBLE.

2. HEAVY FOIL BLEACH AND TONE TO MINIMIZE REGROWTH.

back to grey

hmmm made the mistake of trying highlights and now have 3 different tones as i feared. the blonder look is very much on the yellow side, instead of the more silver look which i wanted, should i try bleaching and going ash blonde do you think?

Silvery hair

First you should bleach it to a pale yellow, then add toner and then platinum blond which is silvery in color

grey hair

Tried the bleaching and toning to platinum but it was awful. In the end I had to rush out and buy another hair dye to cover it. I shall now give up and just let the grey grow through it, even though that will take some time as its shoulder lenght
