Roots too blonde?

Hi,

I went to the hairdressers to go all over blonde inwhich i bought the wrong hair dye inwhich the hairdresser did my roots and it went a gingery blonde rather than a browny blonde. This is the first time i have dyed my hair all over blonde and im not happy with it.

i highlighted it blonde before and loved that colour but now my roots look totally out of place. what should i do to correct this and make my hair look more natural again? i have brown medium brown eyes so i want to know which colour will suit me best im not sure whether to go all over dark brown. which would be the best colour and how could i correct this awful mess?

Blonde hair color

Hi Carrie,

I'm not sure why it is that you bought the color and your stylist applied it. Usually you tell the stylist what color you'd like to achieve and s/he works their magic, whipping up a formula specifically for your needs.

Orangey results are VERY common with blonde hair colors (particularly all over coloring) because of the underlying pigments involved with lifting hair.

This page lays out the must-knows of hair coloring chemistry. You could go all over dark brown, or you could re-color the regrowth area with an ash-based blonde to neutralize the gingery color.

It's difficult to say which would look best on you without seeing a photo. You can use a virtual hairstyling service and upload a photo of yourself to try on different colors. That way you don't have to experiment on your own hair.
