roots won't take colour

im a natural red head but sick of paying out every six weeks .so have been silver for about a year now it looks great , any way went the other day to have my same colour on ,and for some reason it didnt take my hair was lovely towards the ends of my hair but different coulour on the roots .sooooooooooo then hair dresser put bleach all over my head .of course i looked abit like a daffodill lol ,so came home put hot shot on my hair to take yellow away then washed it in a purple shampoo ,it looked lovely once again on the ends ,but carnt get silver roots there still pale yellow , its not hair dressers fault its cause im red but its not happened befor thank u any advise please
