Should I get short hair?

Hi, I'm 5'7" and fifteen years old. I have really thick, wavy hair that's been previously layered. It goes to my collarbones in the front and longer in the back. I have an oval shaped face and a large nose :( I've always been attracted to that short to medium, layered hairstyle (at least reaching to my shoulders, or maybe a little longer)

Also, my hair texture is quite challenging. It tends to get extremely flat on the top, even oily after only one day. Most people say I look good with volume on the top, but it hardly lasts even with mousse. But it has an annoying wave that starts at the top of my ears till the end where it gets extremely poofy and thick. I hate having a flat crown and big ends because it resembles a pyramid, so I was hoping to get rid of the poofy ends with a shorter hairstyle. But as I said before, I'm not sure the short hair will look good.
