Strip hair and add highlight!

My hair right now is dyed a dark brown. I wanted to go a dirty blonde with highlights. My question is that my hairstylist says she has to strip my hair in order to lift this color off. Is it safe to strip my hair, add the color dye plus add highlights or is that all too much for my hair in one day?

how much can your hair take? how much over process can you live with? until your hair breaks off you can do anything to your hair.bleaching or stripping your hair will cook it some more. then, coloring your hair will cook it further. highlighting will cook it further. if you are STILL not HAPPY, you can cook it MORE!!... WHERE DOES IT STOP? the options are endless with color!! AS LONG AS YOU HAVE HAIR TO DO IT ON!!! GOOD LUCK! HAPPY COOKING!!
