stripping hair to go blonde

I have died my hair a few times black, naturally its a dark blonde. I've been trying to use a strong shampoo to get the colour to come out, i had it recommended to me but it really does not work! is there anything that i can use to strip my hair myself? Or do i have to get it done proffesionly?

there is a color remover on the shelves.. i also have dark blonde hair .I had black hair on the bottom and the color remover did work for me, good luck
