Too dark?

I had strawberry blonde hair, and wanted to go lighter ash blonde. so i bought the excell'10 (10 minute loreal dye), "light ash blonde", and it turned out bery dark! like, brown! Why is that, and what shall i do to get light ash blond? thanks in advance. :)

I'm not familiar with the color line you used but I did look it up online. That product probably does not have the lifting action that you need to lighten the strawberry. A 'high-lift' blonde would probably work a lot better.

Of course, now that you have artificial pigment on the ends, a high lift won't be as effective so you may be better off having some bleach highlights weaved throughout the darkish shade and then an ash based toner over it all. That will give you a nice multitonal ash blonde.

Here's more on the hair color processes I mentioned (foil highlighting, bleaching hair and using hair toner). A cap highlighting would work as well, I just prefer foiling, but for home highlighting for those who don't want to mess with foils, the cap will suffice. Just be careful to pull the right amount through. Not too much, not too little. This product works well for home highlights on brown hair...
