Two textured hair

by Sherrie
(South Carolina)

My niece (8 years old) has two distinct hair textures. The top texture (the one you can see readily) is straight and seems to be the thinner texture and then the second texture wavy. What can be done to help this problem?

Baby hair

If your daughter is only eight years old, then she still have what we call baby hair on her top, unless she been on some type of medication. Usually most stylist wouldn't promise a chemical service results on anyone under 12 years.

Things you can do; is check her diet, hair products, and whether her scalp is tight.improving the blood flow by massaging and brushing her head will help.

It isn't uncommon for people to have two textures. I'd just give her a cute cut for now........my guess is when puberty sets in that her hair will change with the rest of her.

use a flat iron

yeah, that is pretty unique! you should try using a flat iron to straighten her hair. i guess it depends if you would like her to have straight or wavy hair.
