What would be the best hair style for me?

I've always been bored with my hair. My mom briefly suggested a short wispy look, because of my face (but I'm afraid of the turn out). I've always had long curly hair, and I've given up on straightening it, because I've damaged my hair "says my mom". I've also considered bangs (flipped to the side), but I don't want to look like a child though. I don't know, I'm just willing to get some input from other than my mom. Please feel free to give me advice, but don't get crazy and joke around...I'm serious about this.

How about you cut it like the girl with dark hair from the last James Bond movie? Hers was about shoulder length, with bangs, and some layers.

I know what you mean, I have naturally curly dark hair.I've gotten bored with it, cut it and layered it with bangs. But let me tell you, you are still going to have to either blow dry it or straighted it or a combo of both. unless you can find a short cut that works with curly hair and doesn't require much maintenence. I ended up wanting my long hair back after a while. Its just easier to take care of in my opinion. If your having a bad hair day you just put it up in a ponytail or bun. On the other hand I know that you will never know until you try it and if you cant resist the urge for a change than go for it. It will always grow back ;) I could see you in a short curly bob type hairstyle.
