Who is giving the advice?

I just wondering who is giving the advice to the questions about hair coloring? Is some of the questions being answered by hairstylist?

Advice

I have answered two questions. I am an ex-hairstylist. I was one for over 22 years. I specialized in color. I still do my own and get compliments.

Why do you ask. Do you need help or are you curious?

advice

Hi, I'm the Editor of style-hair-magazine.com. I'm a licensed hairstylist and I answer questions in here whenever I can. Although I don't post that often, I monitor this section closely because each question and comment must be approved. ;)

There are many professionals who kindly offer their advice and also a whole lot of home-hair-colorers who (for the most part) are pretty experienced with color and offer some sound advice... so bring on the questions!

More thoughts on who to consult
by: Randy in N. Wisconsin

We read so many horror stories in this column. You can tell the pro's by their answers quite often. An idea I have that seems to have worked well for me is when you see someone with hair color that almost brings you to your knees, Find out who did it. This way your chances of suffering from someone who doesn't know their craft is reduced. YOU still need to understand basics like skin color, cut, face shape, previous treatments to the hair, etc., to have a solid result when you're done, but getting to the right professional can be half your battle. A good pro can lead you down the right path and teach you a lot during the course of your involvement with them. Mine taught me a great deal and it shows.
Best of luck - and great hair to all!

I always wish good luck to any experimenting on new hairstyles
by: Stephanie

Although I am not a hairdresser, I have had every kind of cut and color you can think of. I have done both-myself and/or hairstylist done. I offer comments and suggestions to those that I believe I can help from my own experiences and I always suggest going to a good hairdresser. I have helped out a lot of people that I know and people that I don't know-sometimes I wished I would have gone to school for it because I'm not bad at it, but I have chosen a different career. Anyways, I believe that everyone should take a lot of suggestions and comments with a grain of salt-do what you in your heart you believe is the right thing to do, hope for the best, and realize it's your hair no one's else. And if it don't work-out, your hair will grow back out and hairstylists can help you figure out a plan to make all better again.

I AM A HAIRSYLIST
by: Connie

HAVE BEEN FOR A LOT OF YRS.HAVE SEEN ALL KINDS OF GOOD,BAD AND THE UGLY COLORS ETC. i hope I can be of some help. Its always easier if one can see the problem,to be able to be exact in repairing the situation. But most things can be fixed..Id say the most difficult is FRIED hair from way over prossesing with lightners..That takes lots of trimming and conditioning and time..Only play around with that kind of thing when you know what you are doing...Believe me or be ready in case ha!!! Will help when I can....

It concerns me as to how many people think they can just flip hair coloring like they do lipstick colors. I just try to think about protecting hair and keeping it healthy. Over processed and fried hair is not attractive no matter what color it is.
