COLOR

I suggest you see a professional to correct your color so you don't damage your hair and they can advise you about any future home hair coloring. Red is the last color to be removed from hair, so if you have red naturally occurring in your hair you sometimes need to keep the color on longer to remove the red. Ash colors can occasionally create a gray look. Trying to lighen your hair, at home, too many shades can cause problems with color outcome. Good luck!

Root of the problem

Sounds like you might have "hot roots". Make an appointment with a color specialist to correct your problem while you still have some hair oe you could just bite the bullet and let it grow out. I doubt you would want to do that.
