Sharing is caring!

If you’re reading this, you’re probably on the lookout for styling gels that can give you volume, body, and fuller hair.

Both the Flax Seed Aloe and Confixor are styling gels with good liquid consistency and both are created by Aveda.

In this article, I’ll be reviewing both the Confixor and Flax Seed Aloe Gel. I’ll also compare their strengths and weaknesses so you can easily choose the best one for your hair.

Aveda Flaxseed Gel vs Confixor: Comparison

The Aveda Flax Seed Gel is made with organic flax seed and aloe while the Confixor is made with wheat protein. Also, the Confixor Liquid Gel is designed for fine to medium hair while the Flax Seed Gel is designed for medium to coarse hair.

The prices of both are similar as well as the ingredients. However, the Flax Seed Gel is said to be slightly drying, compared to the Confixor.

The scent of the Flax Seed Oil is more like aloe while that of the Confixor is closer to lavender.

The Flax Seed Gel is also supposed to provide a longer and stronger hold than the Confixor due to the strength of the ingredients.

Aveda Flaxseed Gel vs Confixor: The Reviews

Aveda Confixor Gel

The Confixor is a medium-hold gel that is made with wheat protein. It is lightweight, easy to spread on the hair and has been proven to help maintain volume.

If you have fine, thin hair, the Confixor may be more suitable for you.

Also, if you have natural hair that you want to straighten, then the Confixor is also good.

It’s also not drying and a few users have confirmed it, especially for African American Natural Curly Hair.

Moreover, if you look at the ingredients, you’ll see that they are safe. Fortunately, there hasn’t been any report that the Confixor causes damage to hair.

Aveda recommends using the Confixor with their Be Curly Curl Enhancer for even more curl definition and extra hold.

The Flax Seed may be too strong for your hair but should work nonetheless. An 8.5 oz bottle currently goes for 24 dollars on the Aveda website.

Aveda Flax Seed Aloe Gel

The Flax Seed, on the other hand, has a little stronger hold than Confixor. That means the result will last longer than in the Confixor.

You can also expect more strength when you use the Flax Seed Aloe Gel. The Flax Seed Aloe Gel goes for around 22 dollars for 8.5 oz.

It is more suitable for thicker or coarse hair that needs a lot of strength to keep it for a while.

While this gel has everything good thing to be said about it, there are a couple of drawbacks too.

One of them is that it does contain alcohol denat. It is not particularly negative in itself but people have complained that it dries out their hair.

Naturally, alcohol denat is a drying substance, which might even make it even worse for those with dry hair.

However, if you can use it with a leave-in conditioner, that might lessen the drying effect. Some users have had good results with that.

Quality of Aveda Products

The quality of Aveda’s products is great. Most people are satisfied with their product, the Aveda Flaxseed Gel inclusive. However, their products can be pricey.

However if you can afford it, then Aveda is a reputable and quality brand.

Aside from the consistent quality of the brand’s products, most if not all of their products, are made with natural and high quality ingredients.

Note About Applying Gel to Your Hair

When you’re applying flaxseed gel, whether the one from Aveda or a homemade one, avoid getting close to your roots.

Because that might makes your hair look oily and ultimately weighed down. All you need is to wet your hair and apply it directly to the hair but don’t massage it down to the root to avoid this problem.

Although the Aveda Flaxseed Aloe Gel is very popular, most people prefer making their own because it is cheaper.

However, if you like to avoid the stress and effort that goes into making one, and can afford to pay 22 to 25 dollars, then it is well worth it to go for the Aveda Flaxseed Gel.

The reviews are great if check Amazon or the brand’s own website.

Conclusion

As you can see, it’s easy to choose between the Aveda Flax Seed Gel and Confixor. If you have medium to coarse hair, you go for the Flax Seed Gel.

However, if you have fine or thin hair, your best option is the Confixor. Their price is similar as well as the ingredients, so you can’t really choose based on that.

Whichever you decide to go for, make sure to check the official website and Amazon for a better price comparison.
