Cerave vs Olay: Which Is the King of Moisturizing Creams?

If you’re suffering from acne, pimples, and oily skin, I’m sure you’ll be happy to pay a fortune for a moisturizing lotion that works.

Unfortunately, there are dozens of these products out there that come with empty promises. They don’t do improve your skin condition; if not worsen it. However, there are some unique ones out there that can really help you.

These are the ones I help you look for so you can get back your beautiful skin. Two of the favorite moisturizing lotions are Cerave’s Moisturizing Lotion and Olay Regenerist.

They might not be the best out there. But they get the job done. But how do you determine the best one for you? That’s what this article is aimed at doing; to help you choose the right one.

Cerave vs Olay: Which One Should You Choose?

Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream

The Regenerist cream has been around for some time now. And as far as my research can tell, most people using the Micro-Sculpting Cream attest to its effectiveness.

That isn’t to say it works with everybody and that it would for you. That’s what skincare is for you, you have to really try them out and pray they work for your skin.

But the fact that this cream works for so many people is a reason to try it out. And why you’ll see it recommended a lot. One of the key ingredients of the cream is Amino-Peptide Complex 2, which helps in skin and surface cell regeneration.

While it won’t make you look younger than you really are, it can help remove roughness on the skin and smoothen it out. Isn’t that what many of us wants?

According to the manufacturer, this product is meant to offer a set of benefits for the older generation. The target are those who want to improve their skin elasticity, reduce the occurrence of wrinkles, especially on the face, and make the skin softer and more supple.

Even the younger generation wouldn’t mind laying their hands on such a product. That explains why the product is very popular. But then, what are the ingredients in this line? It’s good to make claims all day but if there are no qualities that’ll help achieve the goal, then it won’t be effective.

Ingredients in Regenerist

There are a lot of ingredients in Regenerist that we can’t list or explain everything here. However, we can talk about the important ones. Also, note that this one is the non-scented one, which is very good if you are irritated by fragrances.

Here they are:

  • Vitamin B3. This helps in soothing irritation and redness that attacks the skin. It also helps in improving moisture retention in the skin and elasticity.
  • Vitamin E. A moisturizing antioxidant. It’s responsible for safeguarding the skin from the damages caused by free radicals.
  • Glycerin. It helps in sealing moisture in the skin so it maintains good hydration.
  • Peptides and Hyaluronic acid. While Peptides rejuvenate the skin and promote collagen growth, Hyaluronic acid is a moisturizing agent.

Products in the Regenerist Line

There are a couple of products under the Regenerist Line. This includes the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Face Cream, which is a dermatologist-tested cream. It’s thick, creamy, and packs vitamin E and hyaluronic, both of which helps in improving skin moisture and texture.

Another top seller is the Olay Micro-Sculpting Serum. This is a suitable product for clearing up wrinkles and fine lines. Unlike the Micro-Sculpting Face Cream, it’s lighter and non-comedogenic, which means it doesn’t clog the pores.

Does it Even Work?

Olay claims that the product works. And that you’ll see results in as little as 28 days. The product line has won many awards. The prominent one is after it was tested by the American Consumer Union and outperformed other products from Neutrogena, L’Oreal, and similar brands.

Good Housekeeping rates it as a top-of-the-line product for caring for skin. The majority of users report that it had a good effect on their skin. However, there are a handful of users who claimed that it’s ineffective and that they’re repulsed by its scent.

CeraVe Moisturizing Body Lotion

The CeraVe Moisturizing Body Lotion is another nice lotion for moisturizing the body and restoring the protective skin barrier. It can be used by people with sensitive or dry skin. it’s also suitable for people suffering from eczema as it comes with a seal of approval from the National Eczema Association (NEA).

Cost and Value

The lotion is priced reasonably. It’s not too expensive especially if you have sensitive skin and want to keep your body moisturized throughout winter and summer.

Benefits and Uses

The Cerave moisturizer can be used for sensitive and dry skin for a hydrating effect. It’s free from fragrance, oil, and it’s non-comedogenic. So, if you have sensitive skin, this won’t cause extreme irritation to you after use.

It comes with the MVE Delivery Technology that helps prolongs the moisturizing effect of the lotion on the skin. It’s dermatologist recommended and is filled with 3 essential ceramides so that the body can get optimum protection against environmental pollutants.

All moisturizing lotions have ingredients, even though they might be different. Fortunately, the ingredients in the Cerave body lotion are good. There are many other ingredients in the lotion but these are the important ones and how they affect the way the lotion works. The key ones are:

Hyaluronic acid: The main function of this ingredient is to help the skin retain its moisture. It alleviates dry skin by attracting moisture to the skin’s surface. This leaves the skin cells softer, plumper, and smoother.

Ceramides: This helps in building up the skin’s natural barrier, which is important for healthy skin. The action of this ingredient keeps out environmental pollutants and bacteria.

Although it’s a little expensive. But if you can afford it, I’ll say you should go for this lotion. It has received thousands of reviews and ratings from other uses and the majority of these are positive.

It’s not common to see this with many products even in the same category as this Cerave moisturizer. A lot of people have benefited from it and it doesn’t have ingredients that can give you bad breakout or side effects.

Cerave vs Olay: How They Compared

The ingredients in both creams are very similar. When looking at the ingredient for both, I discovered that it’s a long list. I usually like to see a few ingredients but for many, this isn’t always possible.

When looking at the list of ingredients, I also found alcohol to be present in both. I would never go for any cream, and any skincare product for that matter, that contains alcohol.

At least, both are culprits here. While Cerave has a lightweight texture, the Olay Regenerist is quite thick but should absorb into the skin without any problem. There are plenty of antioxidants in Olay Regenerist, compared to Cerave PM, which comes with only niacinamide.

The price of both creams isn’t far apart, so there isn’t a differential there too. However, Cerave is targeted towards acne-prone, sensitive skin. While Olay is more suitable for mature skin.

So, if you’re still young, you should be looking at Cerave. However, if you’re above 40yrs and looking for a suitable cream, Olay is the best option for you.
