While it’s easy to go with Cetaphil because it’s more popular, there are many reasons you may want to try another brand.

You just might find Cetaphil cleansers don’t work with your skin or find them too expensive or make your skin breakout. You might even be looking at trying another brand to give your body a fresh look. One of the many out there is Noxzema.

If you look at many reviews on Noxzema, you’ll find that it’s actually a good brand. They make cleansers, scrubs, moisturizers, etc. And their products have garnered positive reviews.

Furthermore, the brand claims they’re better than Cetaphil so a lot of people are trying to know if that’s true. So, if you’re on the fence about the two brands, this article is for you.

I’m putting the Noxzema Facial Cleanser and Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser together, in a head-to-head comparison, to help you decide which one is suitable for you. Let’s get started.

Noxzema Facial Cleanser Review

I have really sensitive skin: no skin issues, but every time I shave I get razor burn and bumps that last for up to a week, no matter what cream or what razor I use.

I have been searching for a cleanser that can help me deal with that and I found a Reddit review that talked about this cleanser being wonderful to clean, moisturize and soothe angry skin so I decided to give it a try.

Benefits of this Cleanser

First of all, the texture and thickness of this product are just superb. It’s gentle, creamy, and slightly foamy. In fact, it’s a pleasure to use it during my morning routine because it feels so good.

It is also really easy to take it off, a few splashes of water and you are done: no residue left. After using it my skin always feels soft, plump, and nice.

Some other creams left me feeling dry or tight, but not this one (albeit I do admit this cream produces a slight tingle that might not be for everyone, even if I love it!). The scent is also wonderful: really refreshing without being overpowering or too much.

The effect on my skin has been wonderful: it hasn’t caused any breakouts, and I think I’m even getting less acné.

As for the razor burn, this cream hasn’t totally solved it but it allows me to keep it under control, and as of now I haven’t had any bumps or ingrown hairs. My skin also feels very soft and extra moisturized, which makes it even easier to shave.

All in all, this cream hasn’t solved all my problems but it has made them a good deal more manageable. I would recommend this cleanser for anyone that has sensitive skin and wants something gentle, yet powerful (also for those that can tolerate the tingle !).

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser Review

The Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser is a decent cream for sensitive, dry and normal skin. It’s has a dermatologist-recommended formula that consists of vitamin B5, glycerin, and vitamin B3.

Glycerin is a naturally occurring lipid in the skin that helps the skin retain moisture so that it can remain soft and fresh.

Vitamin B3 has a lot of topical benefits, some of which include the promotion of skin elasticity, hydration, and fighting off free radicals.

Vitamin B5, like glycerin, helps draw moisture to the skin and fasten the reproduction of new cells as old/dead skin cells shed away from the skin surface.

All in all, this cream will keep your body hydrated and looking supple, thanks to this clinically creamy formula. The cream is oil-free, fragrance-free and hypoallergenic.

This moisturizing cream is available in a lot of packages, including and you can buy it individually or in a group of two or three.

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser contains just eight ingredients: water, cetyl alcohol, propylene glycol, sodium lauryl sulfate, stearyl alcohol, methylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben.

As you can see, the product has alcohol and parabens in it. Paraben is a chemical, so if you’re looking for the cleanest of moisturizer, this probably isn’t for you. It also contains alcohol, which I don’t like in any product I’m using on my face.

Cetaphil vs Noxzema Facial Cleanser Comparisons

Both cleansers are quite similar, but I like the soft, gel texture of Cetaphil better.

The two cleansers are designed for sensitive skin.

But one thing I like about Cetaphil is that it may have lesser ingredients than the Noxzema cleanser. One other difference is that Cetaphil actually foams while Noxzema doesn’t.

So, if you don’t like foaming cleansers, this is something you want to pay attention to. In addition to that, Cetaphil is unscented while Noxzema is, so if you’re easily irritated by the scent in your cream, you should get Cetaphil.

I also prefer odorless cleansers, so that’s another area where Cetaphil wins. While I would only use Noxzema on my face it seems like Cetaphil could also be used to cleanse your body and hands.

All in all, I think I am making the switch to Cetaphil: similar price, similar quality, but Cetaphil is better suited to my problems.
