Clarins vs Clinique: Which Brand Is Best for You?

Sharing is caring!

If you’re choosing skin care products, comparing Clarins vs Clinique is a good idea. Both have a very good line of products to choose from, especially if you’re looking for a brand to stick to.

Fortunately, there are a lot of differences between both brands that it’s easy to choose one over the other. Some of the other brands I’ve reviewed are somewhat similar in quite a few aspects.

But I’ve found choosing that choosing Clarins or Clinique is slightly easier.

Whether you’re looking for facial cleansers, body lotion, or hand washes, both brands are up there for you. But which one should you go for if you only have one brand in mind? Let’s find out.

Clarins vs Clinique: Comparison

Clarins is better for skincare and body products while Clinique is good for facial skin care.

Clinique’s products contain more chemicals than Clarins, so you want to go for Clarins if you want products with less toxic items.

While Clarins is gentle on the body, Clinique may be too harsh but might be a good choice for makeup.

These beauty brands offer a range of products, including skincare lines, makeup, and cleansers.

While users generally rate both brands positively, there are some notable differences to keep in mind when deciding how to spend your money.

Clarins vs Clinique: Price

One noticeable difference between the two brands is the price. Clarins products are often significantly pricier than the corresponding product from Clinique, but you get what you pay for.

Clarins offers luxury products, natural ingredients, and exceptional quality. You just have to decide if the price difference is within your budget.

If you’re looking for a wholesome brand, with less chemicals, then I’ll recommend Clarins.

Clarins vs Clinique: Ingredients

The Environmental Working Group offers details about the safety and sustainability of ingredients.

While both brands use a range of ingredients in their products, the EWG suggests that both brands are generally safe for your body and the planet.

Clarins tends to use many essential oils or natural scents like orange essence in its products, which may be appealing to many users. The scents can also be off-putting to sensitive users.

As an added bonus, Clarins has also committed to fair trade practices when sourcing their raw materials.

Neither brand is completely free of animal testing, though both have committed to animal testing only when required to do so by law.

Skin Types

Many customers try new brands when their current product just isn’t doing the trick. Many Clinique users, for instance, report that Clinique seems to dry out their skin over time.

This is true even for users with oily or combination skin types. Clarins’ users have had much better luck with moisturizers, exfoliating products, and foundations.

Product Types

When it comes to cosmetics, the range of products is unending. Most people do not use just one brand in their normal routine, so identifying specific products is key.

Many of Clinique’s highest-rated products are in its makeup lines. Customers are especially happy with Clinique’s line of foundations, powders, and eye shadows. All of Clinique’s foundations include SPF 15 protection.

For Clarins’ users, the brand’s skincare products are unbeatable. Clarins’ foaming cleansers, exfoliating cleansers, and makeup removers get rave reviews.

Clarins Double Serum

One of Clarins’ very popular products is the Double Serum, which is an anti-aging product with plant extracts. Because it extracts in the tube, it can be more effective in caring for your skin.

Clinique Moisturizing Lotion

Clinique serums are designed to help brighten skin and reduce blemishes, fine lines and wrinkles. The serum can also reduce the appearance of dark spots, which makes for clean, smooth skin.

You’ll just have to look for the one that suits your skin so it can be effective when you use it.

Finally…

If you’re in Europe, Clarins is one of the best brands you can get your hands on. They’re complete with a lot of products for your face, body, and hands.

Because it’s a family brand, it may also be more accommodating to complaints and make improvements faster compared to Clinique.

It may be a little too difficult to get good support from Clinique since they’re not a family brand. Moreover, they may not offer samples, so it may not be possible to test before buying their product.

Clarins vs Clinique: Choosing a Product

Clinique Classic Surge

There are a lot of reasons you may want to choose Clarins over Clinique. In terms of effectiveness, Clarins may be much better.

Fortunately, they have a lot of products like facial washes, toners, and creams to choose from. Unlike Clinique, they’re gentler on the skin.

Moreover, a lot of salons use Clarins products and some professionals even recommend them. However, some people found Clarins products to be too fragranced, compared to Clinique.

This is because they mainly use plant extracts in their products. This is a good thing though if you’re looking for all-natural, chemical-free products.

These are even better for healthier and better skin. As they use plants more, their product may be more beneficial. Therefore, if you want good fragrance and gentle products that’ll leave your body soft, you should try out Clarins.

If you want to get colors though, some people love Clinique for their colors. Their skincare products may be a little harsh though.

But the fact that they have a lot of products to choose from is a plus. This is especially great if you’re looking to choose outside of their skincare line.

Finally, getting samples from the brand you want to buy from may offer you the best option. You’ll be able to see which one works for you right away, without having to guess. That should make choosing very easy for you.

Clarins vs Clinique: Verdict

The best way to choose a product is to try it first. Luckily, both Clinique and Clarins offer free samples from their beauty counters or other retailers.

Customers will likely find a variety of products that work for them, but choices will depend on your skin type, preference of scents, and budget.

The best option may be to start with the more affordable Clinique products and scale up to Clarins if you have a specific need.

  1. I just started using Clinique , as Friends have spoken very well of it. Have received free products also ,. So far I love it. And I am very much a critic and have a passion for make up in general. I am 66yr. old and I need all the help I can get. At an early age I used ( M.N) as you can figure out these initials, , But it clogged my pores Also used Estee Lauder and didnt care for it. Also about every drug store foundation.

    1. Glad to assist with questions you may have. Clinique is good, just make sure it doesn’t have ingredients that can cause irritation or allergic reaction. But it seems you’re doing okay with it.
