Clinique vs Mary Kay: Which Brand is Best for You?

Sharing is caring!

Did you know that how much the average American woman spends on cosmetics? Don’t answer just yet, the answer might surprise you.

On average we spend quite the amount of money on makeup and various types of cosmetics. A study from Skin Store estimated the average American woman spends around $300,000 during her lifetime on makeup.

That’s approximately $4615.39 annually if a woman would spend that much in a year from the age of 16 to 80. Given the average life span of an American woman is 81.4.

Why bring all these forward?

Because it’s normal to spend on beauty products. However, a good percentage of this could be a waste; either because you don’t like a product or you just don’t need it.

So, it’s very essential you do adequate research before buying a product. Fortunately, there are a lot of brands out there with similar products that make price comparison a joy.

In the united states alone, there are quite some popular brands in the market some of which are Estee Lauder, Loreal, Clinique, Schwarzkopf, LVMH, Wella, Garnier, New Avon, Ultra Beauty just to name a few.

A few of these brands have already been covered in this site.

In this article, we are going to go over one of the most popular brands, Clinique, and compare it to Mary Kay.

Clinique vs Mary Kay: Which Brand is More Effective?

Let’s look at some of the moisturizers from both Mary Kay and Clinique. Here, I’ll be reviewing the price, pros, and cons so you can easily see which one might be suitable for you.

Let’s review the Clinique moisturizer first:

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer

lotion contains glycerin, which is a humectant that makes the skin soft and plumper so the fine lines and wrinkles on the face becomes less visible.

It also containts urea, which is an exfoliant, humectant, and is also anti-fungal. It’ll help keep the skin hydrated, calm, and free from skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.

The cream is fragrance-free, so it’s less likely to cause skin irritation. The texture is neither runny or too thick, which means it’ll absorb quickly into the skin.

You can use it in the morning or at night before going to bed. This lotion is for you if you have dry to sensitive skin.

However, if your skin is oily or acne-prone, you shouldn’t use this moisturizer. You can buy it from Sephora, Amazon, Ulta, Sephora, and Nordstrom.

Mary Kay TimeWise Age Fighting Moisturizer

Available on Amazon

This moisturizer comes in a variety of options depending on skin type. There is one for normal/dry skin and another for combination/oily.

This makes it easy to choose the one that’s most suitable for your skin.

The moisturizer comes in 3 oz. package and is designed to help alleviate fine lines and appearance of wrinkles on the face.

It’s one of the expensive ones out there so it may not be a good option if you’re looking for an affordable moisturizer.

The Clinique Dramatically Different may be more fitting since it costs a fraction of the Mary Kay TimeWise Moisturizer.

The moisturizer is formulated with antioxidants, which keep the skin free from being invaded by free radicals and external materials.

Although it has a lot of ingredients that can smoothen, soften, and hydrate the skin, the list of ingredients is actually a long one.

While this isn’t bad in and of itself, it can mean more exposure to irritants especially if you have sensitive skin.

The packaging of the product is nice and cute although the liquid itself is heavy when applied on the face, according to reviewers.

If you’re looking for something light and affordable, this may not be it. However, a number of reviewers have stated that it doesn’t make them break out, even with their sensitive skin.

Overall, this is a good moisturizer but an expensive one. If you want a cheaper version though, you can go for the Clinique.

Mary Kay Timewise Repair Volu-Firm Day Cream

A good alternative to the Clinique Repairwear Uplifting Firming Cream is Mary Kay’s TimeWise Repair Volu-Firm Day Cream.

An effective product, the cream combines sunscreen with hydration so you can enjoy it both indoors and outdoors.

The cream is formulated with Broad Spectrum SPF 30, which can help protect your skin from skin-aging UVB/UVA.

So, if you go out a lot and spend significant time under the sunlight, you may want to get something like this.

Aside from protecting the skin from the sun’s rays, the cream is also designed to reduce the skin’s reaction to external irritants, making for a stress-free, youthful surface.

I believe only a skin that’s free from constant irritation from the environment is the one that remains youthful and nice-looking.

According to some customers, there is a possibility for the cream to leave the skin greasy when used on oily skin. You may want to pay attention to this if your skin is oily.

Like other Mary Kay products, the cream is not cheap. Fortunately, the price is similar to that of the Clinique Uplifting Cream. So, if you choose this, you’re not missing out much in terms of what you can save.

The cream is moisture-rich, which means it’ll provide what a healthy skin needs – hydration.

It can boost the production of elastin and collagen, which will make the skin stronger and tighter, leading to firmness and less laugh lines. It is designed for dry combination to oily skin.

Moreover, it is unisex so it can be used by men and women alike. Just like the other Clinique cream, this one too is fragrance so it’s less likely to cause reaction to the skin. For the price, it’s quite expensive.

Final Words on Clinique vs Mary Kay

As you can see, if you’re looking for creams, serums, moisturizers, and other skincare products, you’ll find them with both brands.

They also have anti-aging products you can try, but that’ll be covered in another article.

I hope you are able to get one product from either of these brands for your facial conditions and skin care problems.

If you have a specific product in mind but don’t know if you should get it, you can ask in the comment. I can help you research the product and give you specific advice.
