Davines vs Kerastase: Which is Better?

Sharing is caring!

Davines and Kerastase are luxury haircare brands that focus on products that meet the need of men and women.

They have similar hair products ranging from hair growth shampoos, hair color products, masques, and so on.

They are both reputable brands with dozens of quality products. If you’re finding it difficult to choose between them, there are many resources out there to guide you. Sometimes, their products complement one another.

At other times, you just have to choose. If that’s the case, you should find this article useful. I’ll be covering some of their products and comparing them so you know what distinguishes them and which one might be suitable for you.

Davines vs Kerastase: Their Hair Growth Shampoos

In this section, I’ll be reviewing and covering differences and similarities between the Densifique Bain Densité Hair Thickening Shampoo (Densifique Bodifying Shampoo) and Davines Energizing Shampoo.

Both shampoos are directed at thinning hair. If you’re experiencing hair breakage due to childbirth, alopecia, age, hormonal imbalance, or for any other reason, these shampoos claim to put your hair back on the right track.

They claim to cleanse the hair, reduce hair loss, and prevent further damage to the hair. The Kerastase Bain Densite is a thickening shampoo with hyaluronic acid for adding velocity to the hair.

This is similar to the Naturaltech Energizing Shampoo that helps reinforce weak hair to prevent future breakage. Although the descriptions look different, the most important thing is preventing thinning hair and stimulating new hair growth.

Let’s get started:

Available Sizes

Davines Energizing Shampoo is available in only 250 ml. Whereas, the Kerastase Densifique Bodifying Shampoo is available in 80, 250, and 500ml.

Although this won’t hurt most people, if you’re looking to get a small to try, you will only be able to get Kerastase at the 80ml bottle.

You’re limited to the 250ml if you were to decide on Davines. Personally, I like being able to choose different sizes, especially if I’m the only one using it.

Winner: Kerastase Bodifying Shampoo.

Ingredients List

Davines Energizing Shampoo:

WATER, SODIUM LAUROYL METHYL ISETHIONATE, SODIUM OLIVAMPHOACETATE, SODIUM LAUROYL SARCOSINATE, POLYSORBATE 20, CAFFEINE, ACRYLATES/C10-30 ALKYL ACRYLATE CROSSPOLYMER, MENTHA PIPERITA (PEPPERMINT) OIL, COCO-GLUCOSIDE, GLYCERYL OLEATE, EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS LEAF OIL, HYDROLYZED MYRTUS COMMUNIS LEAF EXTRACT, SODIUM CARBOXYMETHYL BETAGLUCAN, POLYQUATERNIUM-10, SODIUM HYDROXIDE, SODIUM BENZOATE, BENZYL ALCOHOL, TRISODIUM ETHYLENEDIAMINE DISUCCINATE, DISODIUM EDTA, LIMONENE, EUGENOL, LINALOOL, FRAGRANCE, CI 17200 / RED 33, CI 19140 / YELLOW 5.

Densifique Bodifying Shampoo:

Aqua, Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Coco-Glucoside, Sodium Chloride, Glycerin, Glycol Distearate, Cocamide Mipa, Ppg-5-Ceteth-20, Sodium Benzoate, Carbomer, Salicylic Acid, Polysilicone-8, Hexyl Cinnamal, Arginine, Glutamic Acid, Polyquaternium-16, Linalool, Citronellol, Serine, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Isopropanolamine, Aminomethyl Propanol, Sodium Hyaluronate, 2-Oleamido-1,3-Octadecanediol, Safflower Glucoside, Geraniol, Sodium Hydroxide, Citric Acid, Parfum, Fragrance

When you look at the Davines Energizing Shampoo, you’ll find benzyl alcohol in the ingredient list. While this is on an okay list, and may even be beneficial for your hair, it’s important to mention this so if you don’t like to see it in your hair care products, you may want to avoid it.

I like that this ingredient isn’t present in the Kerastase Shampoo, which removes all doubt and makes it a better alternative here.

Another thing to consider when looking at the ingredients is the total number. Some are usually plentiful while others are fewer.

For a fact, this wouldn’t matter as long as the product does what it promises. However, the more ingredient there is on the list, the higher the possibility of triggering an allergic reaction.

Winner: Kerastase Bodifying Shampoo

Price Point

The price is also very similar. Recall that I mentioned that the Davines Shampoo is only available in a 250ml bottle? The price is the same (give or take a few dollars) as that of the Kerastase Shampoo.

I checked Amazon and the official site of both brands and found the same price. Other only stores carrying the products should have the same price so if you’re buying the 250ml, you should be able to get either price at the same price.

Final Thoughts

Hair breakage is a phenomenon that occurs in both men and women. Sometimes, it’s not your fault, such as the case with those with hereditary causes.

It might also be because of a toxic hair product you used. Whatever the reason may be, no one likes to experience hair loss.

If you find yourself in this situation, you need an effective product. Fortunately, a lot of people have found these two products beneficial.

Unfortunately, you can’t get both. If I’m in your shoe, I’ll go with the Kerastase Bodifying Shampoo because of the advantages and benefits it has over the Davines Energizing Shampoo.
