No, Almay is NOT cruelty-free.
Almay is a brand known for beautifying faces, eyes, cheeks, and lips but without the harsh effects that sometimes come with cosmetic usage. As important as skin health is, many today are just as concerned to know: is Almay cruelty-free?
Is Almay Cruelty-free?
While there are many requirements necessary for a product deemed to be cruelty-free, the designation also depends on where the product is sold.
Given differing regulations, particularly in China where all cosmetics require animal testing, many beauty products sold as cruelty-free in one country may ultimately be used for animal testing somewhere else.
This is the case with Almay, which, as a brand under the Revlon umbrella, is a worldwide commodity. Based on Almay’s claims, it is cruelty-free as they do not test on animals.
However, the Revlon brand notes that they are compliant with regulations in the countries in which their products are sold. And since Revlon products, such as Almay, are sold in China, these products undergo animal testing.
Almay presents itself as a product concerned with sustainability as they seek to use eco-friendly packaging.
The brand is health-conscious given its emphasis on being doctor tested. And restricting its products to being composed of only specific, hypoallergenic ingredients compatible with a variety of skin types. Particularly those with sensitive skin.
Given that the brand has been in existence since 1931, it certainly has earned its reputation for offering high-end, hypoallergenic beauty products.
If you are more concerned with the healthfulness of your cosmetics. And at least complying with American testing standards, then Almay offers quality products without enduring irritation or guilt.
If you are looking to ensure that at no phase of the product testing, creation, or distribution anywhere in the world is it tested on animals, then you may want to find a different brand.
